- "Proclus" can also refer to St Proclus, Patriarch of Constantinople, who died circa 446. It can also refer to the martyr Proculus of Pozzuoli. It can also refer to Proclus, a crater on the Moon.
Proclus Lycaeus (February 8, 412 – April 17, 485), surnamed "The Successor" or "diadochos" (Greek Πρόκλος ὁ Διάδοχος Próklos ho Diádokhos), was a Greek Neoplatonist philosopher, one of the last major Greek philosophers (see Damascius). His is one of the most elaborate, complex, and fully developed Neoplatonic systems. He stands near the end of the pagan Greek development of philosophy, and was extremely influential on later Christian (Greek and Latin) and Islamic thought.
