Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) is a historical and patriotic honor society and non-political fraternal organization dedicated to advacing their version of the history of the American Civil War and the 1861-1865 era. SCV membership is open to male descendants (lineal and collateral) of soldiers who fought and served for the Confederate States of America during the Civil War; the minimum age of membership is 12. The SCV states on their home page * "The preservation of liberty and freedom was the motivating factor in the South's decision to fight the Second American Revolution". The SCV’s membership is comprised of individuals from all walks of life and professions, and the SCV has ongoing programs at the local, state, and national levels to offer its members a wide range of activities.
