The Order Sons of Italy in America is the largest and oldest Italian American fraternal organization in the United States. It was created early in the 20th century in response to the negative stereotypes put forth in the media regarding Italian Americans – see anti-Italianism.
Sons of Italy is famous for protesting negative stereotypes of Italian Americans in the media and the entertainment industry. For example, Sons of Italy has led campaigns to get The Sopranos taken off of the air.
